How to Schedule the Things You Need To Do Before Moving
Before starting to pack for a move, it is important to come up with a schedule to be sure that you would be as organized and as efficient as possible and that everything that needs to be done are accomplished and everything that needs to be packed are. Here is a guide on how you can make a moving schedule.

1. About eight weeks before the actual move, keep all the receipts, paperwork and other documents which are related to the move in a folder. You can also start doing some research on the place or neighborhood you are moving to and on the different moving company options you have. Try to get estimates from the different companies by calling them or visiting their websites.
2. Seven weeks before moving, you can start collecting all the records and documents you need that you would not be able to get once you move into your new home. This would include dental records, medical records and the school records of your children. It would also be around this time that you should cancel any memberships you have to clubs and other organizations. You could also call your insurance agent or company to discuss your insurance policies and any changes that need to be done.
3. Six weeks before moving, list down all the things that you would need to pack and which ones you would be discarding. This would help you get an idea of how much packing supplies you need to have.
4. Five weeks before the big move, you can start buying moving kits, boxes, discount packing paper, bubble wrap and other packing supplies that you would be needing.
5. Four weeks before the move, you can hold a yard sale to get rid of things that you would no longer be bringing to your new place. It would also be around this time that you can file a change of address.
6. Three weeks before you move, you can start packing. Use up the things that you would not want to transport such as food and cleaning supplies.
7. Two weeks before moving, plan the meals that you would be having for the last couple of days in your old home so you can keep your refrigerator bare and ready for the move.
8. A week before you move, finish the packing and labeling of boxes. Make sure that you have already called the utility company to have the power in your home turned off. Double-check all the rooms in your home to make sure that they are clean and free from any clutter.
